Broadcom 4318 wireless on Ubuntu ppc iBook g4

There is heaps out there around Broadcom but this is what worked for me with a ppc iBook 1.4GHz G4.

Using Ubuntu 6.06 and Kernal 2.6.15-26-powerpc

I followed the instruction from the following links. Read all the info before starting.  From a readme: It is recommended that you extract firmware for both b43 and b43legacy  order to support both types of cards on your system.

Up and running no reboot required.

Good luck, it can happen… did take about 6 hours of trying things. Had a good night sleep and worked it out in one hour the next morning. ;)

Looks like this success was short lived. Something (i think a reboot) caused everything to go down, no luck getting it back up. :/

Looks like this is another half solution for wireless on the iBook under linux.
